This Kandy, Sri Lanka watercolor print shows the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and its octagonal Pattirippuwa beside Kandy Lake, edged by the white cloud wall. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Kandy, Sri Lanka, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines trace the octagon, the wavy white Walakulu Bemma and the iron railings, and the lake is washed in blue with soft reflections. Tropical green, lake blue and white temple walls form the base, with red-orange tile roofs, a golden shrine roof and pink lotus as accents. The temple and its red-roofed octagon sit to the right with the golden roof behind, the cloud wall runs along the shore, and a red-roofed colonial building stands at left. A lakeside path under a large tree fills the lower left, and the lush hills read as the green season after the rains. "KANDY" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Pilgrims with lotus. Figures dressed in white carry lotus flowers along the lake.
- Cormorant on a branch. A cormorant spreads its wings on a floating limb.
- Scalloped cloud wall. The white wall traces the lake's edge in soft waves.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
Lush greens and lake blue suit a living room, study or bedroom with botanical prints, wicker or deep green walls. It is a thoughtful gift for Buddhist friends, a Sri Lankan family or travelers who stayed in the hill country.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Kandy, Sri Lanka? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the temple and lake, composed for the print rather than drawn from one exact spot.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "KANDY," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
