This Gothenburg watercolor print shows the octagonal Skansen Kronan fortress on its snowy rocky hill above Haga Nygata, a cobbled street lined with yellow and red wooden houses. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Gothenburg, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines outline each stone of the fortress, the cobbles and the wooden window frames, and the snow on roofs and branches is left as white paper. Snow white, mustard and ochre wooden houses and stone gray form the palette, with lingonberry red, icy blue and warm lamplight as accents. The fortress sits in the upper right with a golden crown on its roof, the cobbled street climbs from the foreground to the center, and stone steps lead up the hill. Pine wreaths and iron lanterns give the street a Christmas mood. Yellow and pink drips run down the left edge, blue drips fall on the right, and red and blue splatter frames the border. "GOTHENBURG" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Red sled. A child pulls a red sled beside an adult on the snowy street.
- Holiday wreaths. Pine wreaths and iron lanterns hang on the wooden facades.
- Golden fortress crown. The fortress roof is topped with a gold crown that catches the eye.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Snowy whites, mustard and berry red make it a cozy choice for a living room or entryway in winter, and it still works year-round in a Scandinavian-style space. It is a thoughtful holiday gift for someone with Swedish roots or a friend who spent a Christmas in Gothenburg.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Gothenburg? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Gothenburg in a watercolor style, and some background details are simplified or rearranged.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "GOTHENBURG," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
