A Georgetown Penang travel poster looking straight down a heritage street in the old quarter, where two-storey shophouses run away from you in turquoise, mustard, coral and cream. Trishaws wait at the kerb, the pavement is thick with people, and four pale modern towers stand behind the terracotta roofs.
About the artwork
The street is drawn in one-point perspective with flat planes and crisp outlines, so every louvred shutter, carved column and swinging shop sign stays legible. Colour is the point: saturated turquoise and teal on the near facades, ochre and butter yellow further along, coral and dusty pink beyond, all capped with orange clay pantiles. Three hooded trishaws sit among cyclists in the foreground, and four cream high-rise blocks rise flatly behind. Lettering reads PENANG above MALAYSIA.
Why you'll love it
- Leads with colour blocks rather than a single monument, so it works as a graphic piece.
- Turquoise and mustard sit opposite on the colour wheel, so the street reads vivid rather than cluttered.
- Street-level viewpoint makes it feel lived in, with figures, bicycles and shop signage.
- Suits anyone who walked the old town rather than visiting one landmark.
Where it works at home
The strong perspective pulls a wall backwards, useful in a narrow hallway, a stairwell or a small office where you want the room to feel longer. Hang it at eye level so the vanishing point sits where you look. Give it an off-white or warm grey wall rather than a coloured one.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
Which part of Penang is shown? A street of restored heritage shophouses in the old town of Georgetown, lined with painted facades, five-foot ways and trishaws. The pale blocks behind are modern residential towers on the edge of the historic quarter, so the print shows the contrast between the two.
