This Gdansk watercolor print shows the medieval Gdańsk Crane with its two round brick towers and dark timber frame, beside the colorful merchant houses of the Long Embankment. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Gdansk, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine brown ink draws the brickwork, the timber crane and the rigging of an old sailing ship. The Motława River is made of horizontal blue strokes broken by many-colored reflections of the houses. Brick red, dark wood brown and river blue lead the palette, with narrow facades in ochre, pink, mint and orange. The crane stands on the left, and St. Mary's Church tower and the Main Town Hall spire rise behind the houses on the right. A wooden quay with lamps and flowers fills the foreground on a warm late-summer day. "GDANSK" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Old sailing ship. A wooden sailing ship with furled sails is moored at the quay.
- Busy river. A white tour boat and a speedboat travel the Motława.
- Rainbow facades. Narrow ochre, pink, mint and orange houses line the water.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The mix of brick red and bright pastels works in a kitchen, family room or nautical-themed space. It suits sailors, Baltic travelers and anyone with family in Gdansk.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Gdansk? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Gdansk waterfront, composed to show the crane, houses and towers together.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "GDANSK," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
