This Garden District New Orleans watercolor print shows an olive-green St. Charles Avenue streetcar rolling under live oaks in New Orleans during Carnival season. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the Garden District, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw white columns, iron balconies, the wooden streetcar and winding oak limbs. Spanish moss hangs in gray-violet strokes, and Carnival beads are dotted in purple, gold and green. The streetcar, with red trim and a trolley pole, runs along the grassy median at center right. Greek Revival and Italianate mansions with white porches and iron fences line the left, and a tunnel of oaks fades into the background. Purple, blue and yellow washes drip from the left and bottom edges. "NEW ORLEANS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Mardi Gras beads. Purple, gold and green beads hang from the oak branches.
- Streetcar riders. Passengers fill the windows as a cyclist and a dog walker pass by.
- Shady green palette. Oak green and olive streetcar tones meet white mansions and pops of purple.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its deep greens and whites suit a living room, a front hall or a porch-inspired sunroom. It is a fun gift for a Mardi Gras fan or a friend who lives Uptown. Pair it with our New Orleans watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Garden District New Orleans? No. It is an artistic interpretation of St. Charles Avenue, and the mansions and trees are painted loosely rather than as exact portraits.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "NEW ORLEANS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
