This Bodie State Historic Park watercolor print shows the weathered wooden Methodist Church with its tall pointed steeple, looking across the ghost town from the hillside above Green Street. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the California park, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw each weathered board, the rusty tin roofs and the frame of the mill, over layered brown and silvery cream washes. The church stands left of center. Rows of brown wooden houses with rust-red roofs line the dirt street in the middle ground, and the grey Standard Mill sits on the hillside beyond, under high desert hills. An old picket fence, a wagon wheel and sagebrush fill the foreground. Golden rabbitbrush marks early autumn, and the left and bottom edges melt into grey-green, yellow and violet washes with drips. "BODIE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Old West mood. Weathered wood, rusty roofs and a dirt street give the print a nostalgic ghost-town feel.
- Crow and wagon wheel. A crow perches on a fence post beside an old wagon wheel.
- Ranger in the street. Visitors stroll through town alongside a ranger in a hat.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Weathered brown, cream and gold suit a western-style living room, a study or a hallway with dark wood. It makes a fun gift for a history buff or anyone who collects Old West places.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Bodie State Historic Park? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Bodie and its Methodist Church, painted in a watercolor style rather than as an exact view of the town.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "BODIE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
