A be your own daddy newspaper poster in bright black and white: a mock front page headlined Be Your Own Daddy, Make Your Own Sugar, above a sunny rooftop photo of a woman reading two papers.
About the artwork
TRENDING NATIONWIDE leads into the two-line headline, and the subline adds Sugar-free. Still sweet. The photo is high-key, with pale skies and buildings fading out behind the rooftop. She wears a white towel wrapped around her hair, cat-eye sunglasses and big statement earrings, with a cigarette at her lips. Two newspapers are open in her hands, so the page shows someone reading a newspaper inside a newspaper. The light tones make the whole sheet feel airy and almost sunbleached.
Why you'll love it
- An independence anthem. A fun line about making your own way, for anyone proud of it.
- Light and bright. The pale photo keeps a room feeling open rather than heavy.
- A clever gift for a new job. A cheeky way to celebrate a promotion or a first paycheck.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it in a home office, a living room reading nook or above a breakfast table with the morning paper. A white or natural frame keeps the sunlit look, while black adds contrast to the pale photo. It pairs with the balcony tea front page in this range, which shares the towel-wrapped look.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is the photo dark or light? It is a bright, high-key black and white photo with lots of pale gray.
Is anyone smoking? Yes, the woman holds a cigarette at her lips while she reads.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
