This Bagan watercolor print shows the white, gold-tipped Ananda Temple rising over a plain dotted with red brick stupas, with the Irrawaddy River beyond. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Bagan, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines trace the golden shikhara, the white tiered roofs of the temple and the brickwork of the stupas, and the plain is laid in dry washes of sandy yellow. Terracotta brick red, dry-earth beige and olive acacia green set the palette, with gold on the spire and plum violet at the edges. The temple stands on the right with its spire in the upper third, dozens of red-brown stupas spread across the plain, and a sandy track runs diagonally through the lower right. A large brick stupa anchors the lower left, while the river with a few boats and blue-violet hills closes the dry-season view. "BAGAN" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Horse cart on the track. A horse-drawn cart rolls along the sandy road.
- Ox cart and goats. Two white oxen pull a cart while a farmer herds goats.
- Sea of stupas. Brick stupas scatter across the plain into the distance.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Earthy terracotta and olive tones suit a living room, den or office with leather, rattan or warm neutrals. Gift it to an adventurous traveler or someone who has explored Myanmar's temple plains.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Bagan? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Bagan plain. Ananda Temple is drawn with extra small spires, and other details are simplified for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "BAGAN," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
