A Root Glacier, Wrangell–St. Elias National Park poster, drawn in the golden-age style: Root Glacier flowing as a broad blue-white river of ice between rock walls below snowy Mount Blackburn, with pink wildflowers on the ridge in front.
About the artwork
The glacier pours down between the walls, the peak holds the skyline and tundra and flowers fill the ridge at the ice edge. Hatched crevasse lines cross the ice, and the peaks are hard flat planes inside a clean cream border. Mount Blackburn rises to 16,390 feet in the largest national park in the country. The lettering reads “Root Glacier, Mount Blackburn, Alaska” and pairs it with a date line and map coordinates for the park (61.00 N, 142.00 W).
Why you'll love it
- River of ice. Crevassed blue ice below a great peak.
- Named on the sheet. Each landmark print carries its place names and map coordinates in hand-drawn lettering.
- Thirteen sizes. Paper runs from 8" x 12" up to 30" x 40", plus A4 to A1, and canvas starts at 12" x 16".
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, color-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
It suits an office, a study or a cabin. Glacier blue, slate and magenta pair with white and dark wood; a black frame finishes it.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the color, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Which size works best? 12" x 16" suits a desk wall or a hallway; 18" x 24" and up holds its own above a sofa or bed, and 30" x 40" anchors a large room.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
How is this different from your other Wrangell–St. Elias prints? This is the landmark version, built around Root Glacier with its place names and coordinates lettered on the sheet. The vintage travel poster, WPA, screen print, retro, mid-century, panoramic, classical oil, impasto oil, watercolor and illustrated Wrangell–St. Elias prints are separate designs.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Damage, defects & care
Every piece is printed for you after you order, so we cannot take a print back for a change of mind — please check the size and material first. Our Size Guide shows every size drawn to scale.

Keep artwork out of direct sunlight. Dust paper prints with a clean, dry cloth; wipe canvas and framed canvas gently with a clean, damp cloth. Handle paper prints by the edges until they are framed. More care tips are in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
