This Wichita watercolor print shows The Keeper of the Plains on its rock point above the Arkansas River, flanked by white pedestrian bridges with the downtown Wichita skyline behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Wichita, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The steel sculpture is painted in warm rust brown with clear ink lines, and the river is built from layered blues with soft reflections. Blue water and sky, rust brown and green lead the palette, with yellow black-eyed Susans, purple wildflowers, orange fire pots and an orange-red kayak as accents. The figure stands left of center with raised arms reaching the top third, the curved white bridge masts frame both sides and the skyline sits in the middle distance above a sandbar. A riverside path curves through tall prairie grass in the foreground, golden for late summer. Yellow and green washes and short drips gather at the lower left, with splatter around a white paper border. "WICHITA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Ring of fire pots. Small flames burn in the fire pots circling the base of the rock point.
- Riverside activity. Joggers, cyclists and a red kayak bring motion to the river trail.
- Prairie wildflowers. Black-eyed Susans and purple blooms dot the tall grass up front.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blues and warm rust tones fit a living room, office or entryway with denim, leather or prairie-inspired decor. It is a proud gift for a Wichita native or a family that just moved to Kansas.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Wichita? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Wichita. Some details of the sculpture, such as the headdress, are stylized rather than drawn exactly.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "WICHITA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
