This Waimea Canyon watercolor print shows the vast gorge of layered red, orange and brown volcanic rock on Kauai, seen from the Waimea Canyon Lookout on the western rim. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the canyon, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine brown ink outlines the volcanic rock layers and eroded ridges, washed in rust red, burnt orange and chocolate brown with patches of green. Waipoo Falls and the river are left as thin lines of white paper, and red earth in the foreground is a warm orange wash. The canyon spreads across the middle ground, looking east, with Waipoo Falls dropping down a far wall on the left and a small river glinting on the floor. Kauai's green interior plateau with clouds fills the background, and red dirt, red-flowered ohia shrubs and a ridge trail form the foreground. Early-spring growth sets the season, and orange-red drips run off the left edge. "WAIMEA CANYON" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Helicopter in the canyon. A tiny helicopter flies through the gorge, showing its depth.
- Tropicbird overhead. A white-tailed tropicbird glides above while three hikers walk a red-dirt ridge.
- Rust and fern green. Rust red, burnt orange and chocolate brown rock is cooled by fern green, white falls and pale blue sky.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The rust and terracotta tones suit a warm living room, a boho bedroom or an office with leather and plants. Give it to someone who hiked the canyon rim on Kauai or wants a keepsake from a Hawaii trip.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Waimea Canyon? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Waimea Canyon, painted in loose watercolor washes rather than as an exact view.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "WAIMEA CANYON," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
