A Tokyo night print laid out like the front page of a newspaper. A photo of a Tokyo street after dark, with neon signs in red, yellow and blue glowing over a crowd, sits among a headline and short blocks of text. In a living room it brings the city at night indoors, with a nod to print design.
About the artwork
The design borrows the format of a newspaper or magazine page: a headline, a large photo, and paragraphs of text. The photo shows a crowded Tokyo street at night, lit by neon signs in red, yellow and blue. The lettering reads "TOKYO STREET", "THE JAPANESE RHYTHM", "SATURDAY 17 APRIL 2025" and "NO. 6213", set like a headline, a dateline and an issue number. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- A front page you can hang. The newspaper layout turns a street photo into something closer to graphic design.
- Neon, kept in order. Red, yellow and blue signs bring the color, while the text columns keep the page tidy.
- Real type to read. THE JAPANESE RHYTHM and the dateline give visitors a reason to lean in.
- The crowd sets the pace. People filling the street give the print movement and the buzz of a busy night.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This suits a living room with a modern edge: charcoal, white or deep green walls, a low sofa, a shelf of records. The text columns look best at 24" x 36" or 30" x 40", where the headline reads from the doorway. A black frame leans into the newspaper look. Pair it with another editorial-style Tokyo print, or with a plain black-and-white photograph, so the neon stays the one burst of color on the wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is the date on the print meaningful? SATURDAY 17 APRIL 2025 and NO. 6213 are part of the newspaper-style lettering, set as a dateline and an issue number. They give the page the look of a real front page.
Can I read the text at small sizes? The headline is easy to read at any size. The smaller body text is clearer at 24" x 36" or 30" x 40".
What frame suits a newspaper-style print? A black solid wood floating frame gives it a crisp, printed-page edge. White works well if your walls are dark.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
