This White House watercolor print shows the North Portico in Washington, D.C., seen from Lafayette Square after a light winter snowfall. The scene is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation rather than an exact view.
About the artwork
Thin ink lines draw the four Ionic columns, the rows of windows, the roof balustrade and the iron fence along Pennsylvania Avenue. Snow is left as bare white paper on shrubs, branches and paths, and the bronze Andrew Jackson statue on its rearing horse is painted in deep blue-green on the right. The White House stands at the center with an American flag, the Treasury Building's colonnade appears behind on the left, and the Washington Monument rises in the far distance. Brick paths, shrubs and old iron lampposts fill the foreground. Blue, yellow and violet washes run off the left and right edges in long drips. "WASHINGTON D.C." is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Quiet winter morning. Fresh snow covers the lawn, the fountain and the brick paths of the square.
- Jackson statue. The bronze equestrian statue of Andrew Jackson anchors the right side of the scene.
- Red, white and blue. Snowy whites and pale blue sky are warmed by brick-red paths and a small American flag.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
The crisp whites and soft blues fit an entryway, a home office or a neutral living room with navy or brass touches. It is a good gift for a civics teacher, a former D.C. resident or a family that toured the capital in winter. Pair it with our Washington, D.C. watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of White House? No. This is an artistic watercolor interpretation of the White House from Lafayette Square, not an architectural drawing.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "WASHINGTON D.C.," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
