About the artwork

Indigo on periwinkle, one ink throughout. Two irises hold the middle of the stamp, each opening into three upright standards with three falls dropping away beneath them, and both rise from a fan of narrow sword leaves. A fern ornament fills the lower-left corner and the 1¢ denomination sits in a circle opposite.
