This Storm King State Park watercolor print shows the view north from Storm King, with the Hudson River opening wide below and Bannerman's Castle on Pollepel Island in midstream. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the river view, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink outlines the castle towers and broken walls, the town houses and a barge. The river is a clear silver-blue wash with white wave marks left as paper, and the foreground gneiss is grey-violet. The palette is Hudson silver-blue, oak green and granite grey, with the brown-grey castle, white sails and blue-violet hills as accents. The river runs up the center with the castle island midstream, Breakneck Ridge and Mount Beacon rise on the right, and Newburgh with a church spire sits on the left, with the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge spanning the Hudson toward Beacon. Rocky summit ledges with oaks and pines fill the foreground in late spring. "STORM KING" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Island castle ruins. Bannerman's Castle stands with its turrets on tiny Pollepel Island.
- River traffic. A white sailboat and a cargo barge move along the Hudson.
- Summit rest stop. Three hikers sit on the ledge taking in the view.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Silver-blue and soft green suit a living room, an office or a stair landing. It is a fine gift for a Hudson Valley hiker or someone who grew up along the river.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Storm King State Park? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of the view from Storm King, so details like the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge are stylized rather than drawn exactly.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "STORM KING," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
