This Split Rock Lighthouse watercolor print shows the yellow-brick tower on top of a sheer cliff above Lake Superior, seen from a pebble beach below. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the North Shore scene, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Vertical brown ink strokes and layered grey and gold washes build the cliff. The lake is swept in deep and light blue with white paper waves, and birches are dabbed in yellow-orange, with drips at the lower left. Superior blue leads the palette, with golden birch leaves, dark pine green and grey rock, plus the black lantern as an accent. The lighthouse stands center-right on the cliff top, the keepers' houses sit among trees on the left, and the pebble beach and driftwood fill the foreground. Birches turning gold set it in early autumn. "SPLIT ROCK LIGHTHOUSE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Tall cliff setting. The tower sits high on a straight rock wall above the water.
- Gold autumn birches. Yellow leaves warm up the cool blues of the lake.
- Beach-day moments. Kayakers on the water and a family skipping stones fill the shore.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Lake blue and autumn gold suit a cabin, a cozy living room or a hallway with navy or wood accents. It is a natural gift for a Minnesotan, a Duluth family or anyone who has driven the North Shore.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Split Rock Lighthouse? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Split Rock Lighthouse. Some of the buildings near the tower are simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "SPLIT ROCK LIGHTHOUSE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
