This Sky Tower Auckland poster looks across a wide blue harbour toward the city, where the slim white spire of the Sky Tower stands high above a dense cluster of downtown towers. Dozens of yachts lean into the breeze on sparkling water in the foreground, their sails catching the light in warm cream against deep teal.
About the artwork
The design is a flat vector travel-poster illustration built from clean layered shapes rather than fine linework. The palette runs from a pale teal sky through a mid-blue band of low hills to a deep ocean blue, with sails and tower rendered in soft ivory and pale grey. Sunlight is drawn as tiny white star-shaped glints scattered across the water. The composition is strictly vertical: display type at the top reads AUCKLAND above NEW ZEALAND in a wide, airy sans-serif with generous letter spacing, then the tower on the centre axis, the skyline as a horizontal band, and the yacht fleet filling the lower half. A thin white margin frames all four sides. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- One unmistakable landmark. The needle-thin observation tower sits dead centre, giving the print a strong vertical axis that reads clearly from across a room.
- A harbour full of sails. More than fifty small yachts are drawn individually, so the lower half rewards a close look the way a flat graphic rarely does.
- Calm blues, warm cream. Only two colour families do the work, which keeps the print restful next to books, plants and timber.
- Legible city type. The spaced capitals name the city outright, so the poster works as a travel memento without any explanation.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The deep ocean blues hold their own against a strong wall, so try it on slate, petrol or a soft chalk white where the cream sails can glow. Oak and pale ash frames echo the ivory in the artwork; black steel or walnut sharpens the city half. It suits a living room above a linen sofa, a hallway where the vertical spire draws the eye upward, or a home office over a wooden desk. Woven rattan, jute and a single trailing plant round out the palette.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? For a spot above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" keeps the tiny yachts readable. In a hallway or beside a desk, 18" x 24" is comfortable. Small sizes and A4 suit gallery walls and shelves.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. Framed canvas ships in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Are the boats printed sharply at small sizes? Yes. The artwork is supplied at high resolution, though at 8" x 12" the individual hulls read more as texture than as separate boats.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
