This Seward, Alaska watercolor print shows the pointed, snowy peak of Mount Marathon rising behind the town and the Seward Small Boat Harbor on Resurrection Bay. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the working harbor, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Snowy peaks are bare paper with fine ink lines in the rock gullies and blue-violet shading. The harbor is a blue wash with long mast reflections, crab pots and buoys are drawn in crosshatched ink, and the breakwater rocks are washed in grey-brown. The left edge breaks into blue with long drips and splatter. The palette is Resurrection Bay blue, spruce green and snow and boat white, with rust red sheds, orange buoys and kayaks. Mount Marathon rises on the right behind the town, rows of white boats and waterfront buildings fill the middle, and the Kenai Mountains line the bay on the left. The breakwater and docks with crab pots fill the foreground in late summer. "SEWARD" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Unloading the catch. Fishermen unload on the dock while gulls skim the water.
- Crab pots on the dock. Stacked pots and buoys are drawn in crisp crosshatched ink.
- Otters in the harbor. Sea otters float near two kayakers in red and yellow.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
Blue, white and rust red suit a nautical bedroom, a man cave or an office with a fishing theme. It is a welcome gift for a charter fishing crew, a cruise traveler, or someone who ran the Fourth of July race in Seward.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Seward, Alaska? No. It is an artistic, stylized watercolor interpretation of Seward, and the mountain is drawn taller and snowier than it looks in person.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "SEWARD," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
