This Santa Cruz, California watercolor print shows the Giant Dipper roller coaster climbing above Main Beach and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, seen from the Santa Cruz Wharf. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Santa Cruz, California, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Turquoise washes in light and dark layers shape the waves, with foam left as white paper. The coaster's white wooden frame is drawn in a dense grid of fine ink lines with red track, and the wharf pilings are dark, soft blooms of color. The palette mixes ocean turquoise, sand gold and white timber with red track, red tile roofs and bright beach umbrellas. The coaster's tall drop rises at center top, with arched Mission-style buildings, a carousel and small gondola cars in the middle, forested hills behind, and surf and the wooden wharf on the right in front. It is set on a warm, sunny early-fall day crowded with beachgoers. "SANTA CRUZ" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Sea lions below the wharf. Sea lions rest under the pier while pelicans skim the waves just beyond.
- Lively beach crowd. Swimmers, surfers, a volleyball net and umbrellas fill the sand with color.
- Red coaster track. The red rail running through the white wooden lattice is the brightest line in the print.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
The turquoise and red accents bring energy to a family room, a kids' room or a playful entryway. It is a fun gift for a former student, a longtime local or anyone with boardwalk memories.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Santa Cruz, California? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Santa Cruz, California, painted to capture the feel of the beach and boardwalk rather than map every building.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "SANTA CRUZ," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
