This St. Mark's Square Venice watercolor print shows St. Mark's Campanile and the Doge's Palace in Venice, seen from the water of the Bacino di San Marco. It is an imaginative watercolor-style painting of the waterfront, not a true-to-life view.
About the artwork
The red-brick bell tower is built from vertical orange-red strokes and fine ink lines, and the Doge's Palace façade is dotted with tiny pink and white patterns. The lagoon is laid in with horizontal blue strokes and reflections, and the gondolas are painted in dark blue-black. The Campanile rises tall on the left with its green spire and golden angel, the Doge's Palace stretches across the right, and the domes of St. Mark's Basilica sit behind in the center. The two granite Piazzetta columns frame the entrance, and moored gondolas between wooden poles fill the left foreground. The air is clear early autumn, with a tree on the left just turning yellow. "VENICE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Seen from the water. The view from the basin shows the Campanile, palace and basilica together in one frame.
- Covered gondolas. A row of gondolas under blue covers bobs between wooden poles in the foreground.
- Winged lion column. A winged lion statue tops one of the Piazzetta columns.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
Lagoon blue, brick red and pink-white suit a living room, an entryway or a study with navy or white accents. It is a good gift for a traveler who arrived at St. Mark's by boat or for a retirement trip memory. Pair it with our Venice watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of St. Mark's Square Venice? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the St. Mark's waterfront, with the buildings simplified in a loose watercolor-style.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "VENICE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
