This San Juan watercolor print shows Castillo San Felipe del Morro and its lighthouse on the edge of Old San Juan, with the Atlantic beyond. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of San Juan, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Warm sandstone washes cover the fort walls, and fine ink lines draw the stone courses and sentry boxes. The deep blue sea is broken by white-paper surf, the lawn is a loose wash of green and yellow, and a blue drip and multicolor splatter mark the lower left. The palette is sandstone gold, grass green and deep Atlantic blue, with coral, mint and lemon houses and pink bougainvillea as accents. The multi-level fort sits left of center with the lighthouse rising into the upper sheet, while the white Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery and its red-domed chapel hug the shore on the right beside pastel houses with iron balconies. A sloping lawn and a domed garita fill the foreground under a breezy dry-season sky. "SAN JUAN" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Kites on the lawn. Families fly bright kites on the great lawn in front of the fort.
- Garita sentry box. A domed stone garita stands at the corner of the wall.
- Pastel old town. Coral, mint and lemon facades line the right side of the view.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Sandstone, green and ocean blue suit a beach house, a sunny living room or a kid-friendly family room. It is a heartfelt gift for someone with family roots in Puerto Rico.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of San Juan? No. It is an artistic interpretation of El Morro and Old San Juan, with the fort, cemetery and houses arranged loosely for the painting.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "SAN JUAN," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
