This Rome watercolor print shows the dome of St. Peter's Basilica at the end of the Tiber River, with Castel Sant'Angelo and Ponte Sant'Angelo in front. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Rome, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines detail the ribs of the dome, the columns of its drum and the angel statues along the bridge, with warm, clear washes on travertine and earth-toned walls. Turquoise water with horizontal strokes holds the reflections, and the left edge melts into leaves, pink blooms and a yellow-brown drip below white paper at the top. Ivory travertine, ochre and terracotta walls and turquoise water make up the palette, with umbrella pines in green and pink oleander as accents. The dome sits slightly right of center at the far end of the river, the round fortress with its bronze angel stands on the left, and the stone arches of the bridge cross the middle ground. A curving tree-lined embankment with street lamps runs along the left in early summer. "ROME" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Angel-lined bridge. A row of statues stands along the stone arches of Ponte Sant'Angelo.
- Umbrella pines. Flat-topped pines and blooming pink oleander frame the riverbank.
- Quiet river scene. A lone rower on the Tiber and a scooter rider on the embankment set an easy pace.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Ivory, ochre and turquoise suit a dining room, kitchen nook or warm-toned living room with terracotta or olive accents. It makes a lovely gift for a couple who honeymooned in Italy or for a friend counting down to a first visit to Rome.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Rome? No. This is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Rome, made to show the character of the riverbank rather than a measured view.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "ROME," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
