This Reykjavik watercolor print shows Hallgrímskirkja at the top of Skólavörðustígur, with the painted rainbow street running straight up to the church. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Reykjavik, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Pastel rainbow bands are layered on the road, and the tin-clad houses are painted in flat blocks with fine ink window frames. Concrete white-grey, tree green and the blue of sea and mountains form the palette, with pastel rainbow stripes and red, mustard and teal houses as accents. The church stands dead center at the end of the street, its tower rising into the upper part of the print. Colorful steep-roofed houses and rowan trees line both sides, while a bay and flat-topped blue-violet mountains sit behind. Long orange, pink and blue drips and multicolor splatters soften the edges into a white paper border under clear summer light. "REYKJAVIK" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Rainbow street. Pastel stripes run from the foreground straight to the church door.
- Icelandic sweater. A walker in a patterned wool sweater leads a dog up the street.
- Rowan berries. Rowan trees with orange-red berries brighten both sidewalks.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The bright stripes and clean white tones bring energy to a kids' room, a creative studio or a modern hallway. It is a fun gift for an Iceland road-trip memory or a friend who loves Nordic design.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Reykjavik? No. It is an artistic interpretation looking up the street toward the church. The bay and mountains behind the church are placed for the composition rather than in their true direction.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "REYKJAVIK," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
