This Princeton watercolor print shows Nassau Hall through the open FitzRandolph Gate, with two bronze tigers at the steps and Whig Hall and Clio Hall behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Princeton, not an exact view of the town.
About the artwork
Fine ink traces the stone walls, window frames, cupola and iron gate bars, and the tree canopy is built up in many layers of green. Lawn green leads the palette, with the warm brown fieldstone of Nassau Hall, beige Gothic stone, a white cupola and white columns, and black ironwork. Nassau Hall sits in the center of the middle ground, flanked by Gothic stone buildings, with two white temple-front halls behind. The foreground is the iron gate on stone piers, opening onto a lawn and brick path. It is late spring under full elms, and the left edge fades into ochre and moss green with yellow and green splatter. "PRINCETON" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Bronze tigers. Two tiger statues guard the front steps of Nassau Hall.
- Through the gate. The open iron gate frames the view and draws the eye inside.
- Campus life. Students with backpacks, a cyclist and a group on the lawn bring the scene to life.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
Calm greens and warm stone tones suit a study, a home library or a dorm or first apartment. It makes a meaningful graduation or reunion gift for someone who studied in Princeton.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Princeton? No. This is an artistic interpretation of Princeton, composed to show the gate, Nassau Hall and the lawn in one view.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "PRINCETON," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
