This Porvoo watercolor print shows the row of rust-red wooden storehouses along the Porvoo River, with Porvoo Cathedral and its steep roof on the hill behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Porvoo, not an exact view of the town.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines trace the wooden boards of the storehouses, the steep roofs and the decorative brick gable of the cathedral, and the river reflects long red streaks from the buildings. Rust red, river blue and birch green make up the palette, with purple lilacs and pastel yellow, pink and pale blue facades as accents. The storehouses stretch across the far bank in the middle ground, the cathedral rises on the hill behind, the Porvoo Old Bridge sits on the left, and a wooden dock with rowboats fills the foreground. Lilacs in full bloom mark early summer. Green and violet drips fall from the bottom edge, with yellow-orange splatter around the border. "PORVOO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Lilac bushes. Purple lilacs bloom thick in the foreground.
- River boat traffic. A covered passenger boat passes moored wooden rowboats.
- Walkers on the bridge. People cross the old bridge on the left.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The rust red, blue and lilac palette suits a cottage-style bedroom, a dining room or an entryway with white or soft gray walls. It is a charming gift for someone with Finnish heritage or a friend who has visited Finland.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Porvoo? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Porvoo in a watercolor style, composed to show the storehouses, cathedral and river together.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "PORVOO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
