This Portofino watercolor print shows a curve of pastel houses around Portofino harbor, with the square bell tower of the Church of San Martino rising above the roofs. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Portofino, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine brown ink outlines each pastel facade, filled with clear yellow, orange and pink washes. The harbor is emerald green with the colors of the houses reflected in it, umbrella-pine canopies are built from layered green dabs, and the left edge bleeds bougainvillea pink while blue drips fall at lower right. Emerald water, ochre, salmon and orange facades and olive-green hills make up the palette, with bougainvillea pink in the corner. The houses curve from the center to the right, cypresses and pines climb the hill behind to a castle on the top, and a pine branch reaches across the left foreground above a stone balustrade with potted plants. The light is early summer, with sailboats far out to sea. "PORTOFINO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Harbor full of boats. Wooden gozzo boats and white yachts fill the water close to shore.
- Waterfront awnings. Cafés sit under white awnings along the quay.
- Framed by pine. An umbrella pine branch and potted plants frame the view from a terrace.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Emerald, peach and ochre suit a bright living room, a dining room or a powder room with brass touches. It is a lovely anniversary gift or a keepsake for a couple who honeymooned on the Italian Riviera.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Portofino? No. This print is an artistic interpretation of Portofino, painted in a watercolor style and arranged for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "PORTOFINO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
