This Playa del Carmen travel poster looks down a busy pedestrian street from a rooftop. In the foreground, shoppers cross a pale stone pavement in shorts and sun hats. Mid-frame, rows of small coloured flags and tall vertical banners hang across the street between blue, yellow and cream shopfronts. Big palms fill the right side, and a strip of turquoise sea shows at the top corner.
About the artwork
The drawing is painterly digital work with visible brush marks: soft-edged shadows on the pavement, dappled light through the palm fronds, and dozens of tiny figures blocked in with two or three strokes each. The palette is warm and busy — cobalt blue and marigold yellow building fronts, red awnings, magenta, orange and green bunting, deep olive foliage, and a band of Caribbean turquoise. The composition runs on a steep downhill diagonal that funnels the eye up the street toward the crowd. The lettering across the top reads PLAYA DEL CARMEN above MEXICO. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A street, not a beach — this print shows the shopping strip and its crowds, so it reads differently from the water scenes on the same coast.
- Flags and banners as colour — the strung bunting carries most of the brightness, giving the picture a festival feel without a single logo.
- Rewards a close look — sun hats, shopping bags, awnings, balconies and potted plants keep turning up the longer you stand in front of it.
- Warm and cool together — marigold and red against olive palms and turquoise sea, so it works with both warm and cool furniture.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is the loudest print of the group, so it wants a quiet wall: warm white, oat or a soft clay tone lets the marigold, magenta and cobalt bunting stay the loudest thing in the room. A walnut or espresso frame picks up the olive palms and the shaded pavement and stops the colours from floating. Because the scene is about eating, walking and browsing, it suits a dining corner or a kitchen wall better than a bedroom. Rattan chairs, terracotta pots and a jute rug echo the stone paving; steer away from busy patterned wallpaper, which fights the crowd.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this the beach at Playa del Carmen? No. The scene is the town's pedestrian shopping street a block back from the water, drawn from above, with only a sliver of the Caribbean visible in the top right corner.
What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a desk, shelf or gallery grouping, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" are the easiest to place.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. The framed canvas option adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
