This Painted Ladies San Francisco watercolor print shows the row of pastel Victorian houses on Steiner Street, seen from the lawn of Alamo Square with the downtown skyline behind. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the view, not an exact copy.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw the steep gables, bay windows and lacy wooden trim of each Victorian, and the lawn is a broad wash of green and gold. The palette is grass green, pastel blue and butter yellow on the houses and pale sky blue, with a few orange early-fall trees and rosy trim as accents. The houses sit in the middle ground, seen from the top of the Alamo Square lawn looking east, with picnickers on the sloping grass in front. Behind them rises the downtown skyline with the Transamerica Pyramid and Salesforce Tower, while the bay and the East Bay hills fade off to the left. Green and gold washes drip from the lower left, and the edges break into splatter on a white paper border. "SAN FRANCISCO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Postcard view. The classic view from Alamo Square puts the Victorian row between the park and the skyline.
- Picnic on the lawn. A couple in straw hats sits on a blanket while a dog walker and a cyclist pass by.
- Pastel house colors. Soft blue, butter yellow and rose trim give the row its cheerful look.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.

- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The pastel and green palette suits a bright living room, bedroom or entryway with white walls and light wood. It is a warm gift for a San Francisco transplant, or a housewarming present for anyone who loves Victorian homes. Pair it with our San Francisco watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Painted Ladies San Francisco? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Alamo Square view, and some details, such as the number of houses in the row, are simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "SAN FRANCISCO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
