This Outer Banks watercolor print shows the black-and-white banded Bodie Island Lighthouse reflected in a still marsh pond, with a wooden boardwalk crossing golden grass. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the North Carolina coast, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The striped tower is laid in flat bands with fine ink, and its long reflection is left as paper in the pond. Thick golden dry-brush strokes form the marsh grass, ink outlines the gray boardwalk, and the left edge and bottom fade into gold and violet washes with a drip in the lower left. The palette is marsh gold, pond blue and lighthouse black and white, with weathered gray wood and pale violet at the edges. Seen across the marsh from the west, the lighthouse rises right of center beside the two-story keepers' house and a smaller building behind a white fence, the flat pond mirrors the tower in the middle, and the boardwalk leads to an overlook among reeds in the lower left. Early autumn turns the grass gold. "OUTER BANKS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Mirror-still reflection. The banded tower doubles in the calm pond for a quiet, balanced composition.
- Marsh birds. A white egret, a wading gray heron and a circling osprey bring the marsh to life.
- Golden marsh tones. Warm autumn grass contrasts with the crisp black-and-white stripes.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Gold, blue and black and white feel right in a coastal living room, a hallway or a guest room with navy and natural fibers. A good gift for a family that rents an Outer Banks beach house every year or a lighthouse collector.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Outer Banks? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Bodie Island Lighthouse and its marsh, not a precise record of the grounds.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "OUTER BANKS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
