This Orvieto watercolor print shows the gold mosaic gables and rose window of Orvieto Cathedral rising above tiled rooftops, with the Orvieto tufa cliff and a green valley to the left. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Orvieto, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Detailed brown ink traces the cathedral facade, its mosaics painted a glowing gold and its side walls in black and white stripes. Roof tiles and autumn leaves are dabbed in orange-red, and the left edge bleeds orange, pink and blue with long drips. Amber tufa and terracotta roofs lead the palette with vineyard green, while gold mosaic and the striped stone add accents. The cathedral stands right of center with pinnacles reaching into the sky, a square bell tower rises to its right, and the cliff, valley vineyards and Umbrian hills open on the left. Tiled roofs and a stone alley with potted plants and iron lanterns fill the foreground on an autumn day. "ORVIETO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Gold mosaic detail. The three gables shine with gold, set off against the striped walls.
- Swifts around the spires. Small birds circle the cathedral while people cross the piazza below.
- Autumn vineyards. Vines turn yellow and red across the valley floor.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Amber, terracotta and gold suit a dining room, a library or a living room with warm wood and brass. It is a fine gift for a wine lover or someone who spent a semester in Umbria.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Orvieto? No. This print is an artistic interpretation of Orvieto, arranged in a watercolor style rather than drawn from an exact vantage point.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "ORVIETO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
