This Olympia, Washington watercolor print shows the domed Washington State Legislative Building above Capitol Lake, seen from Heritage Park in late spring. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the capitol campus, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The sandstone dome and columns are pale gray glazes with blue-violet shadow, and fine brown ink picks out the lantern, columns, windows and lampposts. The lake is a blue-gray wash holding a long reflection of the dome, reeds are dry-brush strokes, and rhododendrons are wet pink dots. Looking south, the capitol sits in the center on its hill, smaller sandstone buildings stand among Douglas firs, and the low roofs of downtown Olympia line the water's edge. A curving lakeside path, a stone edge and reeds fill the foreground, with forested hills fading behind. The left edge and bottom soften into blue and pink blooms with drips and splatter. "OLYMPIA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Heron in the reeds. A heron stands among the reeds while ducks swim across the lake.
- Mirror-still lake. The capitol dome reflects in the calm water below it.
- Fir and rhododendron. Evergreen fir and blue-gray water are lit by pink rhododendrons.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
Its greens, blue-grays and soft pink suit a calm bedroom, a study or a living room with natural textures. Give it to someone who works in state government, or to a friend who just moved to the Washington capital.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask

What text is printed on it? Only the name "OLYMPIA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
