This Norfolk, Virginia watercolor print shows the battleship USS Wisconsin moored beside Nauticus, with the downtown Norfolk skyline behind and the Elizabeth River full of boats. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Norfolk, Virginia, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Short, dense wave strokes cover the blue river with light saved from the paper, and the gray battleship is detailed in ink, from its triple-gun turrets to its masts. The left edge breaks into blue, pink and yellow with a long blue drip and splatter around a white paper border. The long gray hull sits just right of center beside the white Nauticus building, with glass and brick towers behind. A tall ship, a tugboat and a paddlewheel boat cross the river, and the near shore with a gazebo, a pier and a brick walkway fills the foreground in late spring. "NORFOLK" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Busy harbor scene. A three-masted tall ship, a red and white tug and a paddlewheeler share the river.
- Navy blue and steel gray. Deep water blue and battleship gray are lifted by white sails and red boat trim.
- Waterfront stroll. People walk the brick riverfront path near a gazebo on the pier.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Navy, steel gray and white suit a study, an office, a man cave or a hallway with nautical touches. It is a strong gift for a sailor, a Navy veteran or a family that once called Hampton Roads home.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Norfolk, Virginia? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Norfolk's waterfront, painted to capture the harbor's energy rather than an exact view.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "NORFOLK," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
