This Montauk watercolor print shows the Montauk Point Lighthouse on the grassy Turtle Hill bluff, seen from the rocky beach below. The image is a watercolor-style interpretation of the point, not a photographic view.
About the artwork
Rounded gray boulders are built up in layers with blue-violet shadows and fine ink lines, and white surf is left as bare paper. The white tower carries a flat brown-red band around its middle, and shrubs on the slope are dabbed in red and orange. The lighthouse stands at middle left beside the white, red-roofed keeper's house and the fog-signal building, with the boulder revetment along the foot of the bluff. Boulders and breaking surf fill the foreground, and distant bluffs fade at the right. The palette is Atlantic blue, stone gray and grassy green-gold, with brick red in the tower band and the turning shrubs of early autumn. "MONTAUK" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Surfcasters on the rocks. Two anglers cast from the boulders while fishing boats work offshore.
- Early autumn color. Red and orange shrubs on the bluff mark the turn of the season.
- Textured boulder beach. Layered gray stones give the foreground a rugged, tactile feel.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue, gray and brick red work in a nautical den, a home office or a living room with navy or slate accents. It is a fitting gift for someone who spends summers at the eastern tip of Long Island or collects lighthouse art.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Montauk? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Montauk Point, painted to capture the feel of the bluff rather than every exact detail.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "MONTAUK," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
