This Menton watercolor print shows the yellow and ochre old town climbing the hill to the Basilica of Saint-Michel-Archange, with the Bastion fort and the old harbor below. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Menton, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The yellow-orange facades are laid in clear washes outlined with fine brown ink, and the turquoise harbor water mirrors the colors of the houses. A lemon branch on the left bleeds into green and yellow with several long drips, and the lower right dissolves into blue-violet dots. Lemon yellow, saffron and earthy orange houses against turquoise sea set the palette, with ripe lemons and red-and-blue striped boats as accents. The basilica's tiered bell tower sits just right of center at the top of the old town, tall yellow and pink houses step down the hill, and the stone Bastion fort stands on the right by the sea. It is a sunny late winter, in lemon season. "MENTON" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Lemon branch. A branch heavy with yellow lemons reaches into the lower left corner.
- Painted fishing boats. Wooden boats painted blue and red sit moored in the old port.
- Winter swimmers. A few people take a winter dip near the palm-lined seawall.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The lemon and turquoise tones bring sunshine to a kitchen, breakfast nook or dining room with white, yellow or blue accents. It is a cheerful gift for a cook, a gardener or anyone who escaped winter on the Riviera.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Menton? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Menton waterfront, with the lemon branch and harbor arranged to frame the old town.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MENTON," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
