This Lyon watercolor print shows the white Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière on its hill above the colorful houses of Vieux Lyon and the Saône River. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Lyon, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Plane tree canopies are layered in yellow and olive dots, the blue Saône is painted in horizontal strokes with vertical reflections, and the basilica is left as white paper with fine ink detail. Golden plane leaves, apricot, pink and ochre facades and river blue lead the palette, with the white basilica and a red-brown footbridge as accents. The basilica crowns Fourvière Hill in the upper left beside the iron Tour Métallique, and the two square towers of Saint-Jean Cathedral stand right of center. Old houses climb the slope, a suspension footbridge crosses the river, and a stone quay with yellow trees and book stalls fills the left foreground. Yellow-pink and blue drips at the lower corners and turning leaves place it in early fall. "LYON" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Riverside book stalls. Green secondhand book stalls sit under the golden trees.
- Boats on the Saône. A river cruise boat and a crowded rowing boat move along the water.
- Quayside life. Cyclists ride and people rest on benches beside old street lamps.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Golden yellow and soft blue bring warmth to a living room, a reading corner or a home library. It is a sweet gift for a book lover or someone who spent an autumn in France.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Lyon? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Lyon in a watercolor style. The hill, cathedral and river are gathered into one frame, with details painted loosely.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "LYON," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
