This Lake Lure watercolor print shows the granite cliffs of Rumbling Bald Mountain rising above the lake, seen from the public beach toward Hickory Nut Gorge. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the North Carolina mountain lake, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Clear gray-violet washes shape the bare granite cliffs, with white paper left for light on the rock. Fine brown ink outlines cracks in the stone, lake houses and the dock shelter, and the mountain laurel is dropped in as wet pink dots. Rumbling Bald Mountain rises on the right, the emerald lake runs through the center into the gorge, and the layered Blue Ridge Mountains fade behind. A sandy beach, a lawn with a green-roofed shelter and flowering laurel on the rocks fill the foreground. Forest green and turquoise lead the palette, with gray stone, sandy beige and laurel pink. "LAKE LURE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Bare granite dome. Rumbling Bald's rounded rocky top and sheer cliffs anchor the right side of the scene.
- Laurel in bloom. Pink mountain laurel on the foreground rocks marks the late-spring season.
- Beach day details. Swimmers on the sand, a white tour boat, kayaks, canoes and a paddleboarder fill the lake.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Fresh greens, turquoise and soft pink brighten a bedroom, a bathroom with white tile or a mountain-house living room. It makes a warm gift for someone who spent childhood summers at Lake Lure or a couple who honeymooned in the Blue Ridge.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Lake Lure? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Lake Lure and Hickory Nut Gorge, painted for mood and color rather than as an exact view.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "LAKE LURE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
