This Kodachrome Basin State Park watercolor print shows Chimney Rock and the tall cream sand pipes rising like monoliths across the basin. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Kodachrome Basin, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink outlines the tall stone chimneys and banded cliffs, with cream and coral red washes and grey-violet shading on the pipes. The Chimney Rock cluster stands center right, seen straight across the basin. Behind it, Entrada sandstone cliffs run in red and white stripes, with smaller sand pipes scattered on the floor. The pink cliffs of the Paunsaugunt Plateau glow in the far distance, and a sandy trail winds through sagebrush in the foreground. Both side edges and the bottom dissolve into pink and green washes with drips, and warm clear light points to late spring. "KODACHROME BASIN" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Monolith silhouettes. The pale vertical chimneys stand out sharply against the red-striped cliffs behind them.
- Horseback rider. A rider crosses the basin floor while two hikers with poles follow the sandy trail.
- Raven on a juniper. A black raven perches on a twisted juniper, a small dark accent among the coral and cream.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Coral, cream and juniper green bring warmth to an entryway, a bedroom or a southwestern-style living room. It suits a photographer friend or anyone who has camped among the sand pipes.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Kodachrome Basin State Park? No. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Chimney Rock and Kodachrome Basin, with the rock formations simplified for the painting.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "KODACHROME BASIN," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
