This Jasper watercolor print shows Spirit Island, a small spruce-covered islet on a pale gravel spit in the milky turquoise water of Maligne Lake. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the Alberta national park scene, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The lake is built from several milky turquoise washes with spruce reflections and white paper highlights, and smooth pebbles show through the shallows. Mountain walls are drawn in fine ink with gray-violet shading, while the snow is left as bare paper. From the boat landing at the Spirit Island viewpoint, the islet sits at the center, steep forested slopes drop into the lake on both sides, and snowy peaks with small glaciers close the valley. A boardwalk with a railing, a dock with a white tour boat and visitors fill the left foreground in early summer. Blue and yellow splashes with a drip break up the lower left inside a white paper border. "JASPER" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Iconic Spirit Island. The tiny spruce island sits at the center, framed by mountains on both sides.
- Loon and lone canoe. A loon on the water and a single red canoe give the lake a quiet, wild feel.
- Pebbled shallows. Clear water over round stones in the foreground draws you into the scene.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Milky turquoise and deep spruce green work in a bedroom, a mountain-cabin living room or a calm office in cool colors. It suits anyone who took the boat cruise on Maligne Lake, or a couple who honeymooned in Jasper.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Jasper? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of Spirit Island and Maligne Lake, painted to capture the mood of the place rather than every exact detail.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "JASPER," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
