This Grayson Highlands State Park watercolor print shows the park's wild ponies grazing on a grassy bald on Wilburn Ridge, with Mount Rogers rising beyond. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the Virginia highlands, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Transparent washes are layered over the grass and hills, and fine brown-grey ink outlines the grey rhyolite rocks, the split-rail fence and the ponies' shaggy coats. The colors are meadow green, Catawba rhododendron pink, chestnut brown and the blue-violet of distant ridges. The ponies, a chestnut mare with a pinto foal and a dappled grey, graze in the middle ground on the right. A rocky footpath winds through pink rhododendron in the foreground, past a rough split-rail fence. Mount Rogers' dark spruce summit and Blue Ridge ridges close the view. "GRAYSON HIGHLANDS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Mare and foal. A pinto foal stays close to its chestnut mother near the rocks.
- Pink rhododendron bloom. Catawba rhododendron flowers bring soft pink to the foreground.
- Hikers and a hawk. Two backpackers with poles walk the trail while a hawk circles above.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
The green and pink palette is a gentle fit for a bedroom, a girl's room or a sunroom with botanical accents. It makes a sweet gift for a horse lover or a hiker who met the ponies on a summer trek.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Grayson Highlands State Park? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of Grayson Highlands, with the ponies, flowers and ridges arranged to tell the story of the place.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "GRAYSON HIGHLANDS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
