This Church of the Good Shepherd Tekapo poster sets the little grey stone chapel on its rocky point above the lake, with a steep pitched roof, arched door and small stone buttresses. In front of it a deep field of purple and pink lupin spikes fills the lower half of the frame, and turquoise water runs back to a long line of snow-dusted mountains.
About the artwork
The scene is a flat vector travel-poster illustration, drawn in tight layered shapes: every lupin spike is built from stacked leaf-like blocks rather than blended paint. The palette is unusually bold, with violet and magenta flowers against aqua and teal lake water, a pale turquoise sky, warm grey stone and lilac-toned mountains under thin white cloud. The composition climbs from the flower field, past the chapel and shoreline boulders, to the far range. Across the sky the poster prints LAKE TEKAPO in wide capitals with NEW ZEALAND beneath it. A thin white margin surrounds the image. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The lupins get the space they deserve. Purple and pink flowers occupy the whole foreground instead of a thin strip.
- A chapel you can actually read. Stone courses, the arched doorway and the dark roof are all drawn in.
- Violet against turquoise. A rare colour pairing that lifts neutral rooms without needing a second accent.
- Layered distance. Flowers, shoreline, lake and snowy range give four clear depth planes.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Violet and aqua are strong, so give this print a quiet ground: chalk white, warm cream or the pale panelled wall in the cabinet photograph. A black frame keeps the purples crisp, while light oak brings out the sandy grasses among the flowers. It is a natural fit for a bedroom above a bedside table, a dressing room, or a hallway that needs colour. Avoid competing with busy florals in the same room.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a desk, shelf or gallery grouping, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" are the easiest to place.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. The framed canvas option adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Why does the print say Lake Tekapo rather than the church name? The lettering names the lake the chapel stands on. The building itself is the Church of the Good Shepherd, shown here on the shoreline.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
