This Gig Harbor, Washington watercolor print shows the sheltered horseshoe bay of Gig Harbor, crowded with white sailboats and fishing boats beneath the snowy dome of Mount Rainier. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the harbor town, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The bay carries transparent teal washes with reflections left as white paper, fine brown-grey ink outlines the net sheds on pilings, masts and docks, and the sails are bare paper. Bay teal, Douglas fir green and sail and snow white form the palette, with a red net shed and violet-blue hydrangeas as accents. The view looks south-east from the west hillside, with the boat-filled bay in the middle ground and weathered net sheds and boathouses on the left, led by the red Skansie net shed. A steep garden with firs, a wooden cabin, stairs and a dock fills the foreground, and Mount Rainier rises pale beyond the harbor mouth in high summer. Blue and yellow drips stream from the lower left, with paint flecks along the border. "GIG HARBOR" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Historic Skansie net shed. The red net shed on pilings anchors the shoreline.
- Mount Rainier backdrop. The great snowy dome rises softly beyond the harbor mouth.
- Summer boating life. Kayaks, sailboats under way and a fishing boat fill the bay.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Teal, evergreen and crisp white suit a nautical living room, a lake or beach house, or a bedroom with blue accents. A thoughtful gift for a sailor, a Pacific Northwest family or a couple marking a move to the harbor.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Gig Harbor, Washington? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Gig Harbor and Mount Rainier, made to capture the harbor's calm summer mood rather than an exact map of the shore.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "GIG HARBOR," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
