Fushimi Inari wall art shot down the middle of the torii tunnel, where hundreds of vermilion gates fold into one another and the stone staircase disappears uphill into the cedar forest above Kyoto.
About the artwork
A one-point perspective illustration with the vanishing point set high, so the eye is pulled up the steps rather than across the frame. The gates are rendered in flat vermilion with hard-edged shadow blocks where the canopy breaks the light, and the stone treads carry cool blue-grey shade against warm sunlit patches. A single branch of red maple sits top left. The tension between the saturated orange and the deep forest green is what makes the piece read from a distance.
Why you'll love it
- The full tunnel perspective, not a single gate — the shape people actually remember.
- Vermilion and forest green, a pairing that suits both minimal and timber-heavy rooms.
- Strong vertical lines that make a narrow wall feel taller.
- Sits alongside the other Kyoto prints in the series as part of a set.
Where it works at home
The upward pull of the composition makes this a good choice for a stairwell or a tall, narrow section of wall. In a home office it gives the eye a corridor to travel down, which is oddly restful at a desk. Pair it with the Arashiyama bamboo print for a two-piece Kyoto arrangement — one orange, one green, same format.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
How is this different from the other Kyoto prints? This one is the torii gate tunnel at Fushimi Inari. The bamboo grove print in the same series shows the Arashiyama path, and the golden pavilion print shows Kinkaku-ji.
