This Frankfurt watercolor print shows the red sandstone tower of Frankfurt Cathedral on the left, glass skyscrapers on the right and the Eiserner Steg footbridge crossing the Main River. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Frankfurt, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine brown ink draws the Gothic tower with its domed lantern and the iron truss of the Eiserner Steg. The skyscrapers are washed in silvery blue, with bright glass streaks left as white paper. Red sandstone, river blue and silver glass lead the palette, with slate roofs and cream old town houses as accents. Half-timbered gabled houses sit in the middle ground between the old and new skylines. The grassy Sachsenhausen bank with trees and a path fills the summer foreground. "FRANKFURT" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Old meets new. A Gothic cathedral tower faces a cluster of modern glass towers.
- Sunny riverbank. People picnic and sunbathe on the grass by the Main.
- Iron footbridge. The Eiserner Steg crosses the river on stone piers.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue, silver and sandstone red suit a home office, condo living room or modern workspace. It is a smart gift for a colleague moving to Frankfurt or someone who loves the city's riverbanks.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Frankfurt? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Frankfurt, placing the cathedral, bridge and skyline together for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "FRANKFURT," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
