This Fort Collins watercolor print looks down from a rocky shore onto Horsetooth Reservoir, with the two-humped Horsetooth Rock rising on the pine hills above. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Fort Collins, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Deep, clear blue washes form the reservoir, with bright streaks reflecting the sails, and fine ink lines draw each block of the red sandstone ledges. The long earthen dam is a pale gray wash, dry grass is dabbed gold, and yellow and pink drips run from the lower left. The palette is lake blue, pine green, red-orange sandstone and dry-grass gold, with white sails and distant blue-violet hills as accents. Horsetooth Rock sits right of center in the upper part, a small marina is on the left, the dam and sailboats cross the middle, and red rock ledges, pines and golden prairie grass fill the front. The scene is set in the middle of summer. "FORT COLLINS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Two-humped summit. The rock's double peak stands clear against the sky above the pines.
- Life on the water. Two paddleboarders and white sailboats spread across the reservoir.
- Angler on the ledge. Someone fishes from the red rocks while a hawk circles overhead.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue water and golden grass suit a lake-house living room, a teen's bedroom or an office with natural wood. It is a thoughtful gift for a graduate heading out of town, an angler or anyone who spends summer weekends on the water.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Fort Collins? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Fort Collins, focusing on the reservoir and the rock above town rather than an exact view.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "FORT COLLINS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
