An El Nido travel poster from inside a sheltered lagoon in Palawan. Two white outrigger boats with canopied roofs lie at anchor in water so clear the coral heads and boulders show straight through it, and jagged grey limestone walls streaked with green rise on both sides of the channel.
About the artwork
This is painted with a lot of transparency work: the shallows are built from overlapping washes of pale mint, aqua and jade with darker patches where reef sits under the surface, and the boat hulls throw thin reflections across it. The cliffs are the counterweight, drawn in cool grey and charcoal with hard angular facets and clumps of scrub clinging to the ledges. A single blue karst island floats on the horizon under a deep unbroken sky, and the lettering reads PALAWAN above PHILIPPINES in white capitals.
Why you'll love it
- Unusually clear water rendering that rewards a larger print size.
- Archival paper, matte canvas or ready-to-hang framed canvas.
- Thirteen sizes including A4, A3, A2 and A1 for European frames.
- Pigment inks hold the graded turquoises without banding.
Where it works at home
Cool greys and clean turquoise make this a natural for a bathroom or en-suite, where tile and glass echo the palette, as long as it is out of the direct path of the shower. In a bedroom it sits well above a pale linen headboard. It also suits a coastal scheme where the walls are off-white and the colour has to come from the art.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
Do the boats stay visible in the smaller sizes? Yes. The two outriggers sit in the middle of the frame against pale water, and the file is prepared at a resolution that keeps their masts and canopies clean down to 8 x 12 inches. The finer detail — individual coral patches in the shallows — is what really opens up from 18 x 24 inches upwards.
