This Duluth watercolor print shows the Aerial Lift Bridge with an ore boat passing through the Duluth Ship Canal, with Canal Park and Lake Superior beyond. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Duluth, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine blue-gray ink picks out every truss of the lift bridge, the lake is layered in blues with bare-paper sparkles, and birch trunks are left white. Lake Superior blue and green lead the palette, accented by the rust-red ore boat, Canal Park brick and white sails. The two steel towers of the bridge rise right of center into the top third, and the red brick warehouses and marina of Canal Park sit in the middle left. Open water and the sandy strip of Park Point stretch behind, while steep steps, rooftops, birches and spruces fill the hillside foreground. Fresh birch leaves place it in late spring, and blue, yellow and violet washes with long drips soften the edges inside a white paper border. "DULUTH" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Ore boat in the canal. A long rust-red freighter slides under the bridge.
- Sailboats on the lake. White sails and a small white lighthouse dot the harbor.
- Hillside stairway. A steep stair with iron railings and vintage lamps looks down to the port.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Lake blues and greens feel at home in a coastal bedroom, a bathroom or a living room with navy, white and wood. It is a great gift for a North Shore regular or anyone who has watched the big ships come in.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Duluth? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Duluth, seen from an elevated hillside angle and simplified into a watercolor-style scene.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "DULUTH," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
