About the artwork

Orange red on sand, one ink throughout. Four open blossoms and a handful of tight, unopened buds crowd along one short twig, packed close the way peach flowers actually sit on the branch before the leaves arrive. A fern ornament fills the lower-left corner and the 1¢ denomination sits in a circle opposite. The perforated edge is drawn as real die-cut scallops on a plain cream sheet, so the stamp sits on the page as an object. Portrait, 2:3.
