This Congaree National Park watercolor print shows towering bald cypress trees rising from dark floodplain water beside the Boardwalk Loop in South Carolina. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the forest, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw the flared bark of the cypress and the boardwalk planks, while the russet foliage is built from layered dabs of color. Dark water reflects the trunks in soft vertical streaks. Russet cypress crowns, fern and dwarf palmetto green and tea-brown swamp water lead the palette, with a touch of blue sky. A huge old cypress with a buttressed base stands left of center, seen along the boardwalk as it curves in from the right foreground. A blackwater slough with cypress knees fills the middle ground, tall loblolly pines fade into haze behind, and orange-green drips run down the left edge. "CONGAREE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Old-growth giants. The flared trunk and russet crown of the main cypress give the print a quiet, tall scale.
- Barred owl watching. An owl on a branch, three turtles on a log and Spanish moss hanging from the boughs reward a close look.
- Boardwalk lead-in. The railed wooden path pulls the eye from the front edge deep into the forest.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Russet, moss and brown suit a rustic living room, a study with leather and wood, or a bedroom in earthy tones. A thoughtful gift for a birder, a swamp-forest wanderer, or someone collecting stamps from every park.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Congaree National Park? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the floodplain forest along the boardwalk, with trees and water arranged for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "CONGAREE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
