This Chimney Rock, North Carolina watercolor print shows the freestanding granite pillar of Chimney Rock above Hickory Nut Gorge, with Lake Lure stretching down the valley. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Chimney Rock State Park, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine grey-brown ink draws the cracks in the granite, the wooden stairways and the summit railing. Lake Lure is washed in turquoise with a boat wake left as white paper, and the forest and distant hills shift from green to blue. The pillar stands left of center with visitors and a flag on its flat top, seen from a higher viewpoint on the gorge cliffs looking southeast. On the right the long lake runs down the valley between grey cliffs, rolling blue hills fill the background, and a granite ledge with mountain laurel and twisted pines forms the foreground. Late-spring blooms set the season, and the lower corners break into pink and blue drips. "CHIMNEY ROCK" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Visitors on the summit. Tiny figures stand on top of the rock beside an American flag.
- Zigzag stairways. Wooden stairs cling to the cliff face, drawn in fine ink.
- Laurel in bloom. Pale pink mountain laurel in the foreground softens the granite greys and lake turquoise.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

The greens, turquoise and soft pink sit well in a lake cabin, a bedroom or a sunroom. It is a good gift for someone who vacations at Lake Lure or grew up in the North Carolina mountains.

Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
