This Carcassonne watercolor print shows the walled hilltop of La Cité de Carcassonne, with its many conical towers, rising above the Pont Vieux and the River Aude. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Carcassonne, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Close, fine brown ink lines describe the walls and towers in pale honey stone under gray-blue cone roofs. The River Aude is a clear blue wash holding the bridge's reflection, and the left edge breaks into yellow and blue splatter with a long drip in the lower left. Honey-beige stone, slate blue-gray roofs and blue water make up the palette, with straw-yellow poplars as the accent. The fortress spreads across the upper half with its double ring of walls and a Gothic church inside on the right, the arched stone bridge crosses the middle ground, and a grassy bank with tall poplars fills the left foreground. Low blue-violet hills sit on the horizon in early autumn. "CARCASSONNE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Fairy-tale towers. Dozens of round towers with pointed roofs line the double walls.
- Fisherman on the bank. An angler sits on the grass while a cyclist rides the riverside path.
- Golden poplars. A row of tall poplars turning yellow marks the change of season.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The warm stone and slate tones fit a child's bedroom, playroom, library or study, especially with navy, mustard or wood accents. It is a fun gift for a history buff or a family that toured the south of France.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Carcassonne? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the medieval city, seen from the river with the walls and towers simplified into a storybook skyline.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "CARCASSONNE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
